The Igbo don’t have the political power to intervene in Benue. It may be true that they have over 70% population of Catholics in Nigeria but this population doesnt command the army, DSS, police etc. Ihejirika is no longer in charge of the army. Ogbonnaya Onovo is not in charge of the police anymore and neither is Paul Dike the chief of Defense.
Any intelligent priest would know this.
Everyone I know in the SE is sad and worried about the situation in Benue. It is not just about Christian solidarity but for the fact that many people know that if Benue fall to the terrorist herdsmen and they set up base there permanenly, Enugu and the rest of the SE will never know peace again.
The solution to this horrendous crime is a political alliance to restructure Nigeria. Benue (just like all other states), need a state police staffed by Tiv, Idoma and Igede men and women willing to protect themselves and their properties.
